Hello John & Mei,
Just a very quick note in response to some of your recent blogs.
First of all congratulations on your 5th wedding anniversary, no I did not know it was "wood", the jewelry trade seems to know all of these things. I did end up humming the Elvis song by that name Wooden Heart!
Your tomato garden looks good, that is one great benefit of summer.
Thank you for your ongoing posts and illustrations of David & Lee and their most impressive trip through the UK, yes I had heard of the Duxford Aviation Museum, apparently one of the best in the world.
You send a Google map location a few days ago re where you live at Anshan, I had a look around courtesy Google Maps etc and if I have got my bearings correct you are not so terribly far away from Port Arthur now known as Lushankou, site of a very fierce naval battle involving Russia, Japan & China and almost some of the great European powers of the day. Is there any memorial to or relics of that conflict there today? (Especially for an ex navy man such as yourself to see) It seems to be a largely forgotten war but many historians consider it to be one of the preludes to the Great War.
It is very late so will close, hope you are both keeping well and again thank you for your interesting posts,
All the very best
Maurice Boyce
